Worldviews I

'Starting Point'

Grades: 7th - 12th
Days: Tuesday and Thursday

Credits: (1) Writing / Composition; (1) Literature; (1) Bible / Theology

 

Synopsis:  This is a great class to take as an introduction to the Christian faith.  We will explore Christian doctrine, Bible study and great literature. Students will learn how to research and write essays.

Worldviews II

'Survive College with your Faith Intact'

Grades: 11th - 12th

(10th with teacher permission)
Days: Tuesday and Thursday
Times: 10:00 AM - 10:55 AM

Credits: (1) Writing / Composition; (1) Literature; (1) Bible / Theology

 

Synopsis:  This class is designed for juniors and seniors to prepare them for the assault on their Christian faith that college will bring.  We will take a deep dive into the core Christian doctrines and examine world religions (Islam, Mormonism, Buddhism, etc.) and opposing worldviews (secularism, multiculturalism, Marxism, etc.) so that they can fulfill 1 Peter 3:15.

BIBL1033 - via LeTourneau University

Grades: 11th - 12th
Days: Tuesday and Thursday
Times: 8:30 AM - 9:55 AM

Credits: BIBL1033 - 3 Credit Hours + $16,000 scholarship

Synopsis:  We use the Bible and The Biblical Story as our text.  This course is designed to help students understand the entire sweep of the Biblical narrative.  We will examine the major themes and characters in the Bible and seek to understand our place as Christians in the story.

through Pop Culture

Grades: 7th - 12th
Days: Tuesday and Thursday
Times: 1:00 PM - 1:55 PM

Synopsis:  Learning history should be fun, right?  It is now!  We will examine US History from WWII to the present with the help of popular culture.  TV Shows, Movies, Music, Advertising, Comic Books and Major News Reports.   In addition to examining the factual events of the day, we will determine the worldview of the producers, writers and directors. We will also examine all of these events and perspectives through a Christian worldview so that we are better able to discern what is happening today.

Digital Media

Credits: (1) Computer; (1) Film; (1) Writing

Synopsis:  Student have to have a working knowledge of the digital media world to survive in the modern world.  After spending 25+ years in the marketing and media world, I see the speed of change is only increasing.  This class will not only produce credits to fulfill high school requirements, but we will also produce a portfolio that can be used in college applications, job applications or even entrepreneurial enterprises.

Synopsis:  In 2017-2018 we studied through the Book of James.  I am preparing to study through the Gospel of John.  I also expect to teach the Biblical Story: Creation, Fall, Redemption and Consummation.
